Affected configurations

This tip is not hardware specific.

This tip is not option specific.

The system is configured with at least one of the following:

  • IBM Remote Deployment Manager (RDM) 4.40, any version

Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.

Please see the compatibility page for more information:

Solution

The next major release (TPM for OSD 7.1) will use a different cloning engine for Linux. Support is planned for larger than 4 GB files.

The target date is scheduled for Fourth Quarter 2008.

The file will be available from the IBM System x Support web site at the following URL:

Workaround

The best recommendation is to clone the operating system without these very large files and to copy the files using a different method after the operating system has been installed by RDM.
